Judge Leonard was unanimously elected as Chief Judge of the Superior Court. The Chief Judge is tasked with many administrative duties in addition to their regular caseload. The Chief Judge oversees the Court’s programs and serves as the court’s liaison with other agencies and elected officials. The Chief Judge is also responsible for court closures and other emergency planning.
The gavel pictured here was actually turned on a lathe by Judge Leonard in 2018 and gifted to Superior Court to be passed down from Chief Judge to Chief Judge. It is back “home” for two years.
